A bottomless portafilter takes the spouts off a standard handle so espresso pours straight from the base of the basket - and suddenly everything your shot is doing is out in the open. Channelling, an uneven bed, a grind that's off: it all shows up as spraying or a lopsided stream instead of a smooth, even pour. It's the single most useful tool for actually understanding and improving your espresso, and you'll pull more crema too, since nothing disrupts the flow on its way to the cup.
This version does all of that with a different attitude to the almond one. Where the timber handle is warm and classic, the black aluminium body reads modern and industrial - offset by the rosewood cap for a bit of natural warmth. If your setup leans dark and minimal, this is the one.

HOW TO USE (quick guide)
* Dose your grounds into the basket
* Distribute (WDT/needle), level, and tamp evenly
* Pull the shot - aim for a 1:2 ratio (e.g. 18g in → 36g out) in around 25–30 seconds, adjusting your grind as needed

Premium materials, built to last

The head is precision-machined from 304 stainless steel, so it holds temperature well and shrugs off daily use without corroding. The handle is CNC-machined aluminium finished in black — rigid and hard-wearing but light in the hand — topped with a rosewood end cap whose grain varies from piece to piece, so no two are quite the same.
